I (not so) recently started doing narration for a show by 1 Up Media called Empires, which is “an immersive storytelling that dives deep into the history of the most successful businesses in Asia.” This led to more work, specifically narrating for their other channels on YouTube and TikTok, but that’s a different story. Here, I’m sharing the series of episodes we did on Globe Telecom, which spans four episodes, plus two interviews that followed.

To be really honest, I don’t think these episodes represent anything close to my best work. These are the first episodes I narrated for the podcast, and I won’t deny that there was an awkward feeling out process. We struggled with finding the right tone, balancing clarity against smoothness, and a bunch of other things. Plus we worked on this in an incredibly short span of time.

The long and short of it is that we produced these first few episodes while we were struggling to find our voice, so to speak. And since I was the newest addition to the team, I’ll freely own up to the fact that I was the one struggling most. Thankfully, solid writing and superb sound design more then compensated for my shortcomings, and we pulled through and produced something that, quite frankly, I’m pretty damn proud of.

Sure, there are things that I can nitpick about, but I’m not gonna do that. Instead, I’m just gonna share the episodes here. And I’ll be posting more compilations like this as we feature more companies. Enjoy!
